ABOUT US
The North Carolina Food System Advocacy Coalition (NCFSAC) was started in January of 2021 as the Unified COVID-19 Relief NC Campaign. Soon, it became clear that the challenges made obvious by the COVID-19 pandemic were always there, and this group should not part ways when the most blatant food emergencies brought on by the pandemic had settled.
The goal stated back in 2021 was to be a "coming together of organizations and constituencies across North Carolina that are concerned with supporting local and regional food systems." We haven't strayed far from that! Since 2021, we've met with 14 federal congressional representatives, hosted multiple education efforts for over 300 North Carolinians, and host bi-monthly meetings to stay up to date on the policies impacting us every day across the state.
Through all of our advocacy and education, we aim to center the values determined by our coalition, ensuring that we are fighting for a just food system for all!

WHO WE ARE
We are a coalition made up of about 350 food hubs, food banks, farmers, environmental groups, and other community organizations advocating for fair and sustainable food systems. Our members span all the regions of the state and represent the beautiful breadth of our communities, from the beaches to the mountains.

WHAT WE DO
⋆ We meet bimonthly on the second and fourth Tuesday at 11am to update each other about policy shifts and hear how folks across the food system are impacted by federal, state, and local policies and their implementations. Be sure to sign up for our listserv to gain access to those meetings. We have an ever evolving policy agenda, please be sure to join our meetings to learn more
⋆ Schedule somewhat regular meetings with legislators to ensure they are hearing from their constituents.
⋆ Educate ourselves and advocate for a Farm Bill that supports a more just food system for all.
⋆ Host in person meetings and farm tours.
